About MPT

Maryland Public Television (MPT) is a statewide, public-supported TV network and Public Broadcasting Service member offering entertaining, educational, and inspiring content delivered by traditional broadcasting and streaming on TVs, computers, and mobile devices. A state agency, it operates under the auspices of the Maryland Public Broadcasting Commission. MPT creates local, regional, and national content and is a frequent winner of regional Emmy® Awards.

MPT is telling the compelling stories of iconic Marylanders Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass to shed new light on this pair of towering figures in the struggle to end slavery. These two films will inspire and educate adults and students while showing viewers both the impact of these freedom fighters’ lives during the 19th century and the importance of their stories on contemporary life today.
